A Safety Mentor plays a meaningful and influential role, serving as a mature, supportive, and guiding figure for youth in schools and the community.

The role combines personal guidance with a “big brother” or “big sister” approach — offering presence, listening, and support in dealing with everyday challenges.
Safety Mentors help prevent violence, drug and alcohol use, and foster a sense of responsibility, security, and mutual care among students.
